Public and Contextual Theology (PACT) Research Fellow at Uniting Theological College, Nth Parramatta
 
Charles Sturt University’s Centre for Public and Contextual Theology is offering, through UTC, a grant for $75,000 to a scholar to research and publish works of international quality in the area of public and contextual theology.  The PACT fellow is expected to be an active participant in the research culture of the Nth Parramatta site.
The offer is for twelve months, commencing January 1st 2014.
Generally applicants must have a doctorate in theology or a related field.
The application should contain:
·         Details of recent publications of international quality in public theology and related areas
·         The proposed research, including book contracts, acceptances by journals etc.
·         Evidence of qualifications
Applications are to be no longer than 500-700 words, excluding supporting documentation.  They are to be submitted in hardcopy to the Academic Dean, United Theological College 16 Masons Drive, Nth Parramatta, 2151 or electronically to joannes@nsw.uca.org.au by 5.00 pm on Monday August 12th 2013.
 
The decision of the PACT Grant Panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.  The Panel reserves the right to not award the grant.  The recipient of the grant will be notified within 28 working days of the closing date.

FROM THE FIRST YEAR MENTOR

Pasifika Information evening, Wednesday September 18th: 6.30-9.30pm - an information evening specifically created for Pacific Islanders who are thinking about studying theology will be held at UTC. This is an opportunity to meet members of faculty, explore the different pathways into the degree, meet current and former Pacific Island students and hearing about the many different ways of being supported (financial and otherwise) for the duration of the degree. Reading Workshop with Ben Myers, Wednesday August 14th 4.30-5.30pm - Ben Myers will be leading a session on maximising reading time and comprehension.

FROM THE SENIOR STUDENT

Senior Student - Suzanne Stanton, will be available to discuss with students any concerns or needs every Thursday during semester from 1.00pm until 4.00pm. She will be located in the All Saints Room in the library. If you need to contact Suzanne at any time, or wish to arrange a meeting at another time, you can ring her on 0408 659 702 or email her at suziestanton@bigpond.com. According to the charter of the Student Association, the Senior Student is appointed to represent the Student Association in its dealings with the Principal and other relevant bodies, be involved in pastoral oversight of students and consult with the Principal about the day to day running of the college.
 

FROM STUDENT ADMINISTRATION

This Friday 9th August is Census Date and the last day that you can make any changes to your enrolment for second semester. All subjects must be finalised including deleting any that you do not intend to take by 5pm on Friday.

Any student who is not studying this semester must also apply for leave by this Friday. If anyone has any concerns, please contact the Student Admin office.

SYNOD NEWS

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd visits Ryde Uniting Church Ryde Uniting Church - PM Kevin Rudd, and Kate Lundy, Minister for Multicultural Affairs, and candidate for Bennelong, Jason Yat-sen Li, visited the 'Little Learners' class and ESL classes at Ryde Uniting Church.  Rev. Dr Brian Brown and Rev. Ji Zhang met with them and put our multicultural church in the national spotlight today.  Read more here: http://bit.ly/19MIplK. Lena & David Reichard’s Service of Induction (David) and Commissioning (Lena), Sunday 1 September 2013, 6pm - the Reichardt’s are heading to Manali in the Himalayas of North India. All are welcome to attend this service at Eastwood Uniting Church, 16 Lakeside Road, Eastwood.
