FROM
THE ACADEMIC DEAN
There have been a lot of difficulties with the
ordering and sale of textbooks by the front office. As a result we have made the decision that
they are no longer able to be sold through the college. The responsibility for buying text books now
falls to students: more information on all the possibilities (it is not usually
too difficult) will be sent out as the new semester approaches.
Out & About
Ben
Myers led a weekend retreat for Roseville Uniting Church. He gave a series of
talks on the theme "Praying the Psalms."
PASIFIKA
INFORMATION EVENING
A
Pasifika Information evening was held on Wednesday September 18th. The
information evening was created specifically for Pacific Islanders who may be
thinking about or intending to study theology, or just curious about what the
study of theology entails. This PI evening was the first of its kind. The
evening was planned by a team of students (in various years of their BTh
degree+ a graduate of UTC) and the first year mentor. The objective of the
evening was to provide helpful information that will enable a potential student
make an informed decision about enrolling at UTC. Gerard, Joanne and Sef
provided input on the following:
- Why study theology? Why CSU/UTC?
- Different pathways into the
Bachelor of Theology degree
- Career options at the end of
study?
- How a student's study can be
supported at UTC financially, academically and pastorally.
The
highlight of the evening was the students’ reflections of their time at UTC.
Lofa, Charissa, Mariana, Sosi and Henry gave honest, encouraging and compelling
testimonies of their experiences at UTC, highlighting how the support from
lecturers, student admin and student support have made studying theology very
worthwhile. Common recurring themes were "challenging",
"transforming/transformative" and "rewarding". A common
thread in the reflections was a strong sense of community, belonging and
engagement.
Those
who attended the evening were of varying age groups, keen to explore what
studying theology entails and also where it may lead them in the church or
beyond. Overall it was a successful evening.

FROM
THE LIBRARY
Students
are very welcome to study in the Library before it opens at 10.30am, provided a
member of staff is available to open up earlier than this. Whilst this
arrangement is available most mornings, we cannot guarantee the Library will
always be open at 7am and apologise if you find the Library is closed in the
early morning.
If
you would like to take advantage of this arrangement, please notify the member
of Library staff who is there and also sign into the diary at the front desk.
This is for your benefit. If there is a fire and you have left your desk we do
not know for whom we are responsible.

Normal application cost is $60. All new
applications for enrolments in the BTh programme (full-time, on campus) need to

All
graduation emails and letters were sent out to students
